YINGKIONG April 21: Upper Siang, Deputy
Commissioner Gamli Padu along with Commandant 17 Kumaon , district heads of
department paid a visit to Gelling to take stock of damages caused in the
recent landslides on April 19 last.
The team visited the last ITBP observation post that has been washed away
in land slides and temporary relief camp at Dampo . The team witnessed extensive
damage to wet rice cultivation field and jhum cultivation field between Gelling
and Bona and damage to porter track 2 km beyond Bona. The next day the DC took a
meeting of public and officers of Yingkiong, Tuting and Gelling at Tuting and
reviewed the relief operations. Shri Padu appealed the people to help the
affected people in Relief camps and conduct social service to restore the
porter track .
Meanwhile 2 ration sorties have been airlifted to Tuting and available PVC Pipes
at Tuting have been airlifted to Gelling for the restoration of water supply.
The CO, Gelling has been directed to return to Gelling with staff to build
confidence of the people.
Earlier ,chief minister Gegong Apang accompanied by DC visited the affected area
on April 16 last.It may be mentioned that a devastating land slides
occurred due to heavy rain in the remote border circle Hq Gelling on April 13
last .
