PASIGHAT April 17 : Minister for Finance , Kalikho Pul has expressed concern over the prevalence of individual interests over public
interest , sincerity, dedication and steady eroding of the system and work culture. The minister was on a two day visit to East Siang district
from April 14 last, reports DIPRO. The minister stressed for detailed soul searching and make a
retrospective analysis to evolve a ways and means to check the causes .He asked all to make concerted
efforts and to work for the betterment of the society and the state. Pul said that the Govt. have
selected some priority sectors like road networking of the administrative HQs, Health & family Welfare and Education besides giving
due importance on social security like police and revenue generating schemes. He
further said that fund for Panchayati Raj Institution would be released after the formalities are fulfilled adding that ways
and means have to be evolved for effective functioning of PRIs and its source of revenue. Expressing concern over the mismanagement of the Apex Bank,
the minister said that the govt. is putting all out efforts to bring corrective measures and sought co-operation from one and all. He
reassured that the public money will not be allowed to be lost. He also dwelt in
details of benefits and importance of VAT, through which substantial revenue is being generated which in turn has
helped in the developmental activities. While briefing about the exemption of taxes on commodities like personalized vehicles, life
saving drugs, consumable goods, cane & bamboo, local products, Pul urged all to co-operate with the govt. He further assured to take the public
into confidence while proposing the budget in future so that their interest can be taken care of
adding that the govt. is committed for transparent and realistic policies. The govt. is also conscious and
concerned for the labour community. Arunachal is a debt ridden state. Accumulation of the loan portion
of Central Fund over the years have become a huge liability. There has been over draft because of many factors such
as one time grant of funds by the Centre, implementation of 5th pay commission, ban of Forest
products etc. Pul appealed all to change their mindset and shoulder responsibility and check the unholy nexus between some officers and
traders . While reminding the various facilities like job reservation, education quota for higher
& technical education etc. he urged all to contribute for the development and welfare of the state . The minister
stressed on checking of unproductive expenditure and asked the labour union not to insist on the clearance of back log while the govt has
already announced bonus. Local MLA, B.Siram put forwarded various problems faced by the public of the district, like shortage of drinking water,
power, deplorable road conditions, and requirement of I.C.U. in the General Hospital
etc. He also appealed for up-gradation of D.Ering memorial Secondary school to Hr.Sec.school and Yagrung ME.school to
Secondary school and devolution of power to the P.R.I.s. He suggested that a committee under the Deputy Commissioner be constituted to
prioritize the schemes of the district so that there is transperancy, accountability and development. East Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete who also spoke on
the occasion submitted a list of projects and schemes priority wise and hoped that necessary funds would be provided for the schemes. Later the minister visited Ngorlung village where the last
rites of Lt.T. Taying was solemnized and donated Rs. 50.000/- to the bereaved family. At Mebo the minister along with minister for Industries
social welfare visited the Mebo PHC,Roing Korong water supply project,
Hr.Sec.school, Seram M.E. school and Borguli Sec.school , Mebo township which is reeling under the shortage of
drinking water supply and dilapidated buildings of Hr.Sec.school Mebo. Lombo Tayeng while lauding the innovative of new planning
system, appealed for immediate help to readdress the problems of Mebo sub-division.
