TEZU : The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mukut Mithi has cautioned
that the future of Arunachal Pradesh will be in peril unless prompt and effective
preventive measures are taken to control the growing insurgency activities. The Chief
minister was addressing the inaugural of function of golden jubilee celebration of Tezu
Higher Secondary School on September 26.
The Arunachal Pradesh control of organized crime ordinance(APCOCO) has been promulgated
for welfare and security of people, not for harassing innocent citizens, said Mukut Mithi.
Elaborating the worsening law and order scenario in some parts of the state, particularly
in Tirap and Changlang districts due to underground activities that necessitated
introduction of APCOCO, the Chief Minister added. Shri Mithi clarified that the ordinance
has been promulgated in the interest of the people and with the sanction of both central
government and courts.
Decrying activities of certain student leaders of advancing their selfish interests by
misguiding students, the Chief Minister said that such activities would retard process of
development besides impairing student careers.
The Chief Minister, who was an ex-student of the school expressed his happiness to
participate in the function. He felt that though the state has to achieve a lot more in
various fields, it has made tremendous strides in education sector. Shri Mithi also
stressed on achieving 18 to 20 percent of growth in education sector in the next decade.
The Chief Minister called upon the teaching and student community to revive the old
teacher student relationship for improvement of education. Expressing concern over
the high rate of drop-outs in the school level, Shri Mithi solicited constructive
suggestions from all conscious citizens for improvement of the existing system.
Shri Nakul Chai, Minister of State,MOS (RWD) who also addressed the gathering called upon
the teachers and the students to strive hard to achieve academic excellence.
The function was among others attended by Minister of Environment & Forest, Chowna
Mein, Kalikho Pul, MOS Land Management, District Officers, public, former students and
Shri A.P. Borthakur, who served as Headmaster when the school was established as Middle
school in May 1952. Shri Borthakur was felicitated on the occasion.
As parts of the celebration, games and sports cultural and literacy activities were
organized during the event.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister visited the work site of Dusnallah Hydel project near Tezu on
September 27. The Rs.4 crore project when completed will produce 500 KW of power. The
Chief Minister was accompanied by Chowna Mein, Minister of Env. & Forest, K. Pul, MoS
(Land Management), Nakul Chai,MOS(RWD) and District Officers.
